THE FINAL REVIEW WORKSHOP OF THE MATPD PROJECT

The third and final review workshop for the project titled "A Multimodal Approach to Teacher Professional Development (MATPD) to Address Evolving Educational Changes in Low Resource Settings" has commenced at Villa College on 25th October 2023 and will continue for two days.

Launched on November 1, 2021, MATPD project represents a successful collaboration between the leading institute Villa College of Maldives, consulting partner, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) of India representing Nepal, and the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA). Funded by Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC), it aims to uplift teacher professional development to meet the unique challenges faced in low-resource educational environments in Afghanistan, Maldives and Nepal.

Over the past two years, the project has made significant progresses across various fronts. Activities such as the Landscape Mapping Study, Training for Teacher Educators, the Behaviour, Attitude, Skills, and Knowledge (BASK) Study, Compendium of Action Researches, have all contributed to the project's success.

Today's review workshop holds a special focus on the presentation and discussion of the findings of the BASK Study. This study has delved deep into the effectiveness of the 10 months long South Asian Teacher Educators (SATE) Fellowship, a critical component of the project, where 15 fellows each from Maldives, Nepal and Afghanistan learned about mentoring, action research, ICT and reflection. Additionally, fellows also conducted an action research and engaged in communities of practices via social media platform.

The review workshop is a platform to discuss the final project deliverables and reflect on the gaps and successes in the project design and its overall impact. Participants from the three countries will come together to assess the project's journey, sharing their experiences and insights.
