VILLA COLLEGE UNVEILS INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION SHOWCASING STUDENT TALENT AND INNOVATION

Today marked the successful launch of Villa College's interior architecture exhibition. The event featured 30 student projects from the interior architecture degree program offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Villa College. These projects included work from first-year, second-year, and final-year students of the Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture and Design programme.


The exhibition commenced with blessings from the Holy Quran. During the opening ceremony, Udhuma Abdul Latheef, Head of the School of Engineering, delivered the opening remarks.


"Today, we unveil an exhibition that highlights the knowledge, skills, expertise, and creativity of students from Villa College’s Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Design programme. This exhibition will present exceptional projects that are set to transform the landscape of interior design in our nation."


During the event, awards were presented for the best projects. Inthiash Salih's "Curiosity" received the Best Project Award for Semester 2. Aishath Samha Riyaz's "A Balanced Harmony" was honoured as the Best Project for Semester 4. In Semester 5, the award was shared by Dheena Ahmed Shareef for her "Oasis/Cloud 9" project and Aishath Yania Khaleel for "Ripples of Nostalgia." Mariam Jaishaath Saleem's "Onu Elderly Living Center" won the Best Project Award for the final semester, Semester 6.


Mr. Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and the event's chief guest, emphasised the importance of excellence in interior architecture. In his speech, he praised Villa College's interior architecture programme for offering valuable practical experience to students entering the field. He also highlighted the need to advance the practice of interior architecture in the country and to support students pursuing this career path.


“If you want to implement these aspects on behalf of the state, government or HDC, we will be creating a space for the elderly. I am offering you the opportunity to design the building with your help. I present this opportunity to you. While my project is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, when the project reaches a certain stage, I will pave the way for you all to get the opportunity to design the interior of the setting.”


At the event, Vice Rector of Villa College, Dr. Ali Najeeb congratulated the students who took part in the exhibition. He emphasised that they should take pride in their achievements and celebrate their success.


The exhibition took place at Villa College Main Hall on August 28, 2024, and was open to the public from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
