Certificate II in English for Social Communication lays out the very basic foundation to enable students to take part in routine conversations in English. It provides a second opportunity for students who wish to improve their communication skills in English; and a fresh new opportunity for adults who wish to start their journey to pursue learning English. The programme is designed to enable students to take part in routine conversations in English and engage with people in familiar settings. The activities and tutorials are designed to give maximum practice on speaking, reading, and writing. Through intriguing topics, students will enrich their vocabulary and learn grammatical structures and functions. By the end of the programme, students will be able to converse on familiar topics and make simple presentations.
General Entry Criteria
Completion of Basic Education (Key Stage 2 / Grade 6) OR
Attainment of a Level 1 qualification
Alternative Entry Criteria
16 years of age AND
Ability to communicate in the language of instruction.

On the successful completion of this programme students will be able to:
use English to speak with others;
read, understand and write on different social media, and other texts;
read and write on everyday topics;
listen to and understand conversations;

discuss simple social topics with each other, make short presentations and interact with each other minimally in groups.
