Participants of this programme will have the opportunity to explore a range of creative concepts and processes prior to deciding an area of specialisation. This foundation programme will broaden their skills and understanding of the possibilities of further studies or potential employment opportunities in the creative sector. The graduates of this course would be able to join entry level jobs in the relevant specialism in the Maldives or enrol directly on relevant undergraduate programmes. Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the Certificate 4 in Creative Arts and Design, in addition to having a portfolio ready for university or job interviews.
General Entry Criteria
3 O’ Level /SSC passes with a C grade and above OR
Attainment of a Level 3 qualification in a related field

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will be able to;
Demonstrate generalized knowledge and understanding of key concepts and essential skills for visual communication through exploration, reviewing, refining, researching and use of creative techniques.
Demonstrate generalized knowledge and understanding of key concepts and essential skills for visual communication through exploration, reviewing, refining, researching and use of creative techniques such as:
- mark making through drawing, typography, painting, printing, etching, etc.
- core photography skills such as technical competency, exposure triangle, composition and using the formal elements
- interior, exterior and graphic design.
Use basic strategies to analyse, evaluate, solve and refine problems related to project briefs as they arise.
Acquire critical thinking skills and research skills that are appropriate for carrying out a range of activities independently for study purposes and for workplace application.
Demonstrate skill and expertise through the production of final pieces and portfolios which are suitable for further progression interviews.
Apply language skills required to undertake further studies. To enhance employability skills, students will have the opportunity to develop their design skills with the use of computer software.
Acquire knowledge and understanding of materials and their properties as well as processes and techniques.
Produce documented visual outcomes which demonstrate creative design skills within interior or architecture and realisation of intentions with evidence of connections to relevant contextual sources.
