The Diploma in Computing provides a common first year for BSc in Business Information Technology and BSc in Computer Science. Upon successful completion of this programme students will be able to:
Demonstrate a broad understanding of the design and development principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity
Apply routine techniques, skills and tools necessary for computing practice to design, implement and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component or program to meet desired needs
Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles and computer science theory in modelling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the trade-offs involved in design choices
Use creative thinking to analyse a problem and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solutions
Use a wide range of communication skills and specialized skills in the subject area to present ideas to informed audiences
